The game always rolls what is necessary, the computer can continue to play with the smallest gaps, and you can roll the dice endlessly and stay out, that's not right.

Installs OK but my main concern is why the software refuses to let me make perfectly legal moves. Surely it isn't as lame as Microsoft backgammon, is it?

It's not obvious at first, but you right-click on the dice to reverse them and play the low number first. (Only necessary when you have the choice.)

Downloaded this software and unzipped the files, but it will not install. Is it still valid? Or is the free trial version obsolete?

It was written for Windows 95 and 98, but still works. You may have to move everything into one directory and create a shortcut.
